Chicago Passes Ordinance Requiring Hotels to Provide “Panic Buttons” To Certain Employees | Law and the WorkplaceChicago, IL – The Chicago Police Department was the first major US metropolitan law enforcement agency to entirely computerize its police processes including Incident Reporting, Arrest Processing, Evidence Tracking, Case Management, Records Management, Mapping, and Policing Analytics. The Chicago Police Department was also one of the first to deploy these processes to its fleet of police vehicles on a city-wide wireless network. Clarity Partners’ contract to maintain and enhance software applications for the Chicago Police Department has been expanded again to include the development of the next generation of several of these core law enforcement systems which are now over 12 years old. Under the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), the Public Safety IT department is leveraging grants and federal funding sources to pay for these new police systems without increasing its software application development budget. The new systems will allow Chicago Police officers and detectives to capture information more accurately in less time and will make information more readily accessible, actionable, and predictive in the field. The new systems will also provide for a higher level of cooperation with suburban and other regional law enforcement agencies.
